Mary listens. As I’d come to a certain age, dealing with health issues, it came time to sell my family house. Our house was very special to everyone in the family because it was built by my husband’s grandfather, and had stayed in the family ever since.
It was important to me to work with someone who would appreciate the history of the house, and what made it special. I needed someone who would listen. When I met Mary, I felt her ambition and professionalism, but also her compassion. One day, I told her stories in front of the fireplace, relating my memories of weekends spent at the house, bringing my kids to visit their grandparents, long before I became the owner. Years later, my husband and I moved up from Queens and spent many good years as owners of the house.
Mary took all of this into consideration, and took special care to find a buyer who would appreciate the house, its history and its design. Her listing attracted many offers, and I’m happy that the buyers will keep the house intact, and give it the loving care it needs.
In addition to selling the house, Mary helped me find a new apartment to live in. As I have health issues and it is difficult to get around, she took me to several apartments, trying to find one that would fit my needs. We found one with just the right size and atmosphere- just what I wanted for myself in my old age. She went above and beyond, bringing me to showings and meetings, mindful of my limitations. On the day we closed the sale, she brought me home, and made sure I was comfortable and relaxed after the excitement of the day, and even made me lunch!
This weekend was my 80th birthday and I had my first gathering in my new place, which has its own story. Thank you Mary, for listening.
