Weleda Is Leaving Palisades!

Word is out that the charming Weleda spa and store at 1 Closter Rd. in Palisades, with its soothing ambiance, will shut down sometime this summer. What a loss to Rockland County!

Weleda, named for the Celtic goddess of wisdom and healing, was born in Switzerland in 1921 from the teachings of philosopher Dr. Rudolph Steiner, one of the “fathers” of holistic healing. Their gentle skin care products and healing tinctures are made without a drop of harmful chemicals. Weleda still cultivates their own herbs and other healing plants, and they’re known and loved throughout the world. The company’s American operations were based in Congers prior to their move to the historic building in Palisades.

The imposing white clapboard structure was  built in 1859 to house the local Methodist Church, and was later home to the Yonderhill auction house.

Stop by for your last chance to buy products in the company’s own store (they will be available, as always, in health food stores and other outlets for “natural products.”)
