NYACK UNLIKELY TO EXPERIENCE A THIRD WARM WINTER IN A ROW

Winter 2017-18 may be colder in Nyack according to a report released by The Weather Company,

New York may see a warmer-than-average December-February due to the La Nina pattern developing in the Northwest said Dr. Todd Crawford, chief meteorologist with The Weather Company. This weather pattern typically drives cold temperatures and precipitation further north into Canada.

Winter 2015-2016 was the Lower 48's warmest December-February period in 121 years according to NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information. 2016-2017 was in the top ten warmest winters. The experts at NOAA think it unlikely for this to happen for a third year in a row, but let’s hope!

Of course, none of this necessarily implies a winter without nasty and dangerous storms.

Despite the last two winters of notably warm weather, January 22, 2016 saw Winter Storm Jonas dump a record 27 inches of snow on our lovely village of Nyack.Image title
