Nyack Is Just A Short And Extremely Scenic Drive From A French Slice Of Europe

My wife and I are on our annual Easter pilgrimage to Montreal.   We left Valley Cottage, turned on Pandora, and 5 hours later were totally engulfed in French culture. We walked cobble stone streets, ate French food in wonderful sidewalk Bistros, and are looking forward to High Holy Easter Mass said & sung in French, in a Church few on earth can compare to. The Notre Dame Basilica is a house of worship on par with St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the original Notre Dame in Paris. Though I haven’t visited every Cathedral on earth, it could easily be second in grandeur and beauty only to Vatican itself. The food, museums, music, underground, and Bio-Sphere set in the old ’76 Olympics pavilion are all so very outstanding. Our diner at Joe Beef last night will forever be in the top of my dining experiences around this globe we call Earth. Anthony Bourdain says this is the best restaurant on earth and I am tempted to agree. The entire staff took time to stop by and chat us up. Food was beyond compare.

Stay in “Old Montreal” and it’s just like being in Europe, yet so much easier to get to. I can heartily recommend this close vacation to anyone looking for a quick get-away. There is also train service if you don’t want to drive. There certainly is no need for a car once you have arrived, as everything is walking distance or available via the very user friendly subway (Metro). Maybe the most unbelievable treat of all may be the cupcakes from Les Glaceures off Rue De Notre Dame. One word of advice we were given, and it has paid off in the past, on your way back into the United States, DO NOT get behind a car with Canadian plates on the line through US Customs.Image title
